چکیده

AJis'rRAcT. The changes in serum act, ivity of Lnterleukin (IL)-1, IL-6, and tumor necrosis factor (TNF) were studied in dogs with acute infiammation. Dogs with loea] jnfiammation induced by an intramuseular injection ef turpentinc oil showed clinically a typica} progression in the infiammatory rcsponse, recoveTing on day 14 after the treatment. Serum concentrations of C-reactive protein (CRP) and ai acid glycoprotein (evi AG) increased, and the albumin concentration decreased in al] dogs during the acute phase response, These values each returned to the normal range from day 14 to 21 . Serllm IL-6-like activity was detected from 2 hr to day 6 aftcr trcatment, Serum TNF-like activity in the treatment group was detected at a low }evel from 3 to 24 hr after treatment, but thcre was no statistically signifieant difference compared with the control group. The ternporal changes in serum IL-6 and TNF-like activities prcccded those in serum concentrations ef CRP, cri AG, and albumin. No dogs showed a detectable rise in serum IL-1-}ike activity after treatment.-KE\ woRDs/ acute phase protein, canine, IL-1, Il.-6, TNF, ------------・ -------J. Vet. Med,Sci,56(3):487-492,1994

Acute Phase Response with Special Reference to C-Reactive Protein in Dogs with Generalized Demodicosis

Background: Canine demodicosis is an inflammatory parasitic skin disease associated with the presence of excessive numbers of Demodex mites. The pathogenesis involving demodicosis is not completely recognized. It is suggested that demodicosis occurs because of the inability of the host to regulate mite intensity, rather than from an elevation of the mite virulence. The acute phase response is a...

Canine CRP (cCRP) is a marker for systemic inflammation

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a major acute phase protein in dogs. Its concentration increases rapidly and significantly during systemic inflammation and subsequently decreases quickly following the elimination of the source of inflammation. Kinetics of canine CRP (cCRP) in an acute phase response are similar to those of human CRP. The synthesis of CRP in hepatocytes is induced by inflammatory cy...

Gene expression analysis of the acute phase response using a canine microarray.

The safety of pharmaceuticals is typically assessed in the dog and rat prior to investigation in humans. As a result, a greater understanding of adverse effects in these preclinical testing species would improve safety assessment. Despite this need, there is a lack of tools to examine mechanisms and identify biomarkers in the dog. To address this issue, we developed an Affymetrix-based oligonuc...

Acute-phase proteins and antioxidant status in cows naturally infected by hydatid cysts in the Razavi Khorasan Province

Parasitic infections can be extremely problematic for animals and humans. Host-parasite relationships may be different between species. The purpose of this study was to evaluate Haptoglobin (Hp), Serum amyloid-A (SAA), Alpha -1- acid glycoprotein (AGP), Albumin (ALB), Total protein (TP), Globulin (GLB), Malondialdehyde (MDA), and Total antioxidant capacity (TAC) following natural infect...

C-reactive protein in canine babesiosis caused by Babesia rossi and its association with outcome.

C-reactive protein (CRP) is a positive major acute-phase protein in dogs and can be used as a predictive marker for risk of disease and to monitor the response to treatment. Increased concentrations in certain diseases are associated with poor outcome. This cross-sectional, observational study of 75 dogs naturally infected with Babesia rossi was designed to examine the relationship between outc...
